ODSEE on Solaris - Unable to Start Directory Service after System Reboot WARNING<20488> and Error "libdb: unable to join the environment" (Doc ID 1567040.1)

Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Symptoms

After a reboot, the DS server cannot be brought back into service automatically. But it has been repeatedly restarted by the SMF service.

The errors log from the DS server has something like the following,

  

- DEBUG - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 -  libdb: unable to join the environment
- Sun-Java(tm)-System-Directory/6.3 B2008.0311.0058 (64-bit) starting up
- WARNING<20488> - Backend Database - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 -  Detected Disorderly Shutdown last time Directory Server was running, recovering database.
- DEBUG - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 -  libdb: unable to join the environment
- Sun-Java(tm)-System-Directory/6.3 B2008.0311.0058 (64-bit) starting up
- WARNING<20488> - Backend Database - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 -  Detected Disorderly Shutdown last time Directory Server was running, recovering database.
- DEBUG - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 -  libdb: unable to join the environment
- Sun-Java(tm)-System-Directory/6.3 B2008.0311.0058 (64-bit) starting up
- WARNING<20488> - Backend Database - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 -  Detected Disorderly Shutdown last time Directory Server was running, recovering database.
- DEBUG - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 -  libdb: unable to join the environment
- Sun-Java(tm)-System-Directory/6.3 B2008.0311.0058 (64-bit) starting up

Each time a new ns-slapd process has been created.
