Symptoms

The Custom application generates an error message:

 

  Once this manifests itself, it is no longer possible to ping the server on the https port and a server re-start is required to resolve the issue. The port it is pointing to is configured for https in this instance. Depicted below is the associated entry from the domain.xml.
