Imaging InvoiceSynchronization Fault On DocumentService Call: "A repository error occurred" (Doc ID 1573850.1)

The InvoiceSynchronization process faults with an ImagingException, reported as the following:

BusinessFault : {http://imaging.oracle/}ImagingException. Client received SOAP Fault from server : A repository error occurred.

Log files on both the SOA domain and WebCenter Content domain show errors.
