Symptoms

A Java servlet deployed in WebLogic Server (WLS) 10.3.6 fails with the error BEA-101017 as soon as the whole configuration is run in a closed network environment (no Internet access).
The WLS instance is going down as a result.

 The network was closed so that no connections to the Internet were possible.
