Service Is Unavailable when accessing Community Polls (Doc ID 1603260.1)

Symptoms

On : 11.1.1.8.0 version, WebCenter Sites | Community

When attempting to access Polls in the community application since upgrade to 11.1.1.8.0,
the following error occurs.

ERROR
-----------------------
"Service is unavailable" is displayed in the UI.

Logs show the following 

2013-09-25 17:48:33,076 [http-8090-3] ERROR com.fatwire.cos.core.jpa.cmd.wem.WemCommandManager - REST Server-Side Report: java.io.IOException: Index directory /home/atos/webcenter/Shared/lucene/cg_poll does not exist
com.sun.jersey.api.client.UniformInterfaceException: GET http://{host:port}/cs/REST/sites/FirstSiteII/types/cg_poll/search?field:cos_finish_date:range=20130925094832151:99991231235959999&countonly=true&multiticket=multi-ST-15-REg09QSmMJAgE1V6ZtP3-cas-oul121.{hostname}-1 returned a response status of 500 Internal Server Error
