Intermittent Failure of Java Plug-in with Internet Explorer (Doc ID 1604016.1)

Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)

Symptoms

Intermittently, the Internet Explorer (IE) browser was reported to lose the ability to run Java applets.  A single user was reported to be affected only.  Other users on the same Windows box did not experience this problem.  The Java Plug-in in the Firefox browser worked fine even for the affected user.

The error message from IE running a internal portal:


The affected user was a standard Windows user with no administrator privileges.

Changes

The user was unaware of any changes.
