How To Increase The Number Of SDATA Sections To More Than 32 When Using OracleTextSearch (Doc ID 1607548.1)

Last updated on MARCH 05, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.6.0 and later
Oracle WebCenter Content: Imaging - Version 12.2.1.4.0 to 12.2.1.4.0 [Release 12c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Up to Oracle RDBMS 12c Release 1, the number of SDATA fields in an Oracle Text Index was limited to 32.  In Oracle 12c, this limit has been increased to 99.

These changes have also been backported to Oracle DB 11.2.0.4, as well as Oracle DB 11.2.0.3, but on a limited number of platforms.

This note explains how to use more than 32 SDATA fields with WebCenter Content.

Note: If this limit is not raised and you have more than 32 SDATA fields defined, you receive an error like this when you attempt to rebuild the seach collection:
Number of SDATA section exceeds limit(32)
