In WebCenter Custom Portal and Spaces, the Document Explorer Taskflow Incorrectly Cancels a Checked-out Document (Doc ID 1607683.1)

Symptoms

In an 11g Custom WebCenter Portal or WebCenter Spaces environment there is a problem with the checkout function in the Document Explorer task flow - the check out will be incorrectly cancelled when the 'upload new version'  action is cancelled.  The steps below explains the problem:

From a custom WebCenter Portal using the Document Explorer task flow, or from a WebCenter Spaces Portal using the Document Explorer task flow:

 - Select a file, for example "report.docx" (don't click on its name, just select it).
 - In the menu File, click "Check out". The "lock" icon appears beside the "report.doc" document, and its status is checked out.
 - Click on the name of the file. The task flow will show the properties page of the file. Currently the file still checked-out.
 - Click on "Upload new version". The task flow shows a upload panel.
 - Click on "Cancel".

 The task flow returns to the folder page, and the file is no longer checked-out. The "lock" icon has disappeared. The expected behaviour is the check-out should not be cancelled.
