ExaPatch is a Utility that automates the process of applying patches to an Exalogic Machines. This document describes how to install, configure, and use ExaPatch, a utility that simplifies the process of patching and upgrading the Exalogic infrastructure (BIOS,ILOM, Firmware, and Software) for the Exalogic Infrastructure PSU Physical Release Upgrade.
The new release Exapatch is installed during the PSU bundle installation (Refer KM Article) in the ZFS shares at /exalogic-lctools/bin/ and the complete directory structure as mentioned :
[root@compute-node]# /exalogic-lctools/bin/exapatch <options> -a <action>
The steps provided in this document should be applied as part of a whole Exalogic system PSU upgrade as they are supplemental to the full documentation and do not contain full instructions to set up the environment.
Exalogic Infrastructure content in a PSU has been tested to work together in an optimal manner, and needs to be patched as a single unit. Applying only parts of the Infrastructure patches and choosing not to apply others is not supported. Oracle highly recommends customers to align with the infrastructure SW/FW versions included in a PSU.
For more information about installing, configuring, and using ExaPatch, see the ExaPatch User's Guide, which is included in the ExaPatch bundle at exapatch/doc/E41279_01.pdf (e.g /exalogic-lctools/docs/exapatch/E50725_01.pdf). For the default values of ExaPatch options, see the "ExaPatch Command Syntax and Options" in the ExaPatch User's Guide.
