WebCenter Collaboration: Intermittent Delays in Notification Delivery (Doc ID 1621904.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 02, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Collaboration - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Notifications generated by Collaboration are not consistently delivered and may be delayed for several hours.

There is no error generated by this behavior. However, a PTSpy capture taken on the Collaboration server will show large gaps in time between the queing and de-queing of the message guid, which is normally expected to only take a matter of seconds.

Queing of a message on the Collaboration server:

The delay can also be seen in a JRockit Mission Control recording taken against Collaboration. In this case, when looking at the recording, the 'Code' section will show a high level of usage under 'Hot Packages' for org.hsqldb.

(For more information on using Jrockit mission Control with collaboration server please see the following knowledge article: Note 1222573.1 - JRockit Mission Control Monitoring/Logging For Use With WCI Products)

You may also observe the ndb.script, which is used by Collaboration to queue general notifications for inclusion in the summary notifation message that is sent out daily, grows larger than a few MB. The ndb.script file, located in [WCI_Home]\ptcollab\[version]\settings\store, has a default file size of 4KB. It is normal for this file to increase slightly in size from the default file size. However, if it grows to more than a few MB, you may begin seeing this issue.

This behavior can be intermittent and may correct itself after restarting Collaboration.
