Java.lang.NullPointerException Accessing WFS 1.1.0 (Doc ID 1623606.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 08, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Middleware MapViewer - Version 11.1.1.7.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When trying to create a WFS theme, the "Feature Name" and the "Spatial Column" are not retrieved in step 2 of 2: Define a WFS theme WFS attributes.

The WFS server is in an intranet and not publicly available, this is the Capabilities URL:

http://enc-cap-iba-02/accp_arcgis/services/GIS_NETCO/WMS_WFS_STATIONS/MapServer/WFSServer?request=getCapabilities

When this is used in a web browser the response is shown in file Version_1.0.0_Response.xml

In Mapbuilder we are using the URL:

  http://enc-cap-iba-02/accp_arcgis/services/GIS_NETCO/WMS_WFS_STATIONS/MapServer/WFSServer

which MapBuilder translates to:

20-dec-2013 8:42:57 oracle.sdovis.util.WfsCapabilities readUsingHttpGet
INFO: GetCapabilities request: http://enc-cap-iba-02/accp_arcgis/services/GIS_NETCO/WMS_WFS_STATIONS/MapServer/WFSServer?VERSION=1.0.0&SERVICE=WFS&REQUEST=GetCapabilities
20-dec-2013 8:42:58 oracle.sdovis.CacheMgr2 createSubRegion
...

We tried manually filling in the "Feature Name" and "Spatial Column"

"Feature Name": Stations
"Spatial Column": LIGGING_BEHEER

When clicking on Next button there is a java.lang.NullPointerException (regardless of entering manually the "Feature Name" and the "Spatial Column" or leaving those fields empty)

The images show the URL as

http://enc-cap-iba-02/accp_arcgis/services/GIS_NETCO/WMS_WFS_STATIONS/MapServer/WFSServer?REQUEST=GetCapabilities

but the same happens when using

http://enc-cap-iba-02/accp_arcgis/services/GIS_NETCO/WMS_WFS_STATIONS/MapServer/WFSServer
