ORA-12713 & REP-771 Error While Running Reports on Unix Environment (Doc ID 1627746.1)

Symptoms

On Reports Server version, 11.1.2.1.0 or higher

When attempting to run reports on Unix environment using NLS_LANG as, for example, CANADIAN FRENCH_CANADA.WE8ISO8859P1 in reports.sh the following error occurs.

ERROR

REP-771: Une erreur grave PL/SQL s'est produite dans l'unité de programme afterpform.
ORA-12713: Perte de caractères dans la conversion NCHAR/CHAR
REP-771: A fatal PL/SQL error occurred in program unit afterpform.
ORA-12713: Loss of character data during NCHAR / CHAR conversion



STEPS
--------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:


1. Install Oracle Reports on Linux. Change NLS_LANG to CANADIAN FRENCH_CANADA.WE8ISO8859P1 in reports.sh file (for location, see <Note:2071812.1>).

2. Run your report using below command

11g

   $INSTANCE_HOME/config/reports/bin/rwclient.sh server=rep_custom report=/path/test.rdf userid=<username/pwd> desformat=PDF destype=file desname=/tmp/output.pdf

12c

  $DOMAIN_HOME/reports/bin/rwclient.sh server=rep_custom report=/path/test.rdf userid=<username/pwd> desformat=PDF destype=file desname=/tmp/output.pdf

Changes

Changed the NLS_LANG value in reports.sh.
