'Too Many Open Files' And Excessive TCP Socket Connections In CLOSE_WAIT State In ODI Agent Load Balanced Configuration (Doc ID 1628778.1)

Last updated on JULY 02, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 11.1.1.3.0 to 12.1.2.0.1 [Release 11gR1 to 12c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After having set up an Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) mixed Agent load balancing configuration comprising:

  1. A parent ODI 11g JEE Agent
  2. Multiple child ODI 11g standalone Agents

when the system has been running correctly for approximately 12 hours, the WebLogic Managed Server hosting the J2EE Agent displays the following message:

Too Many Open Files

in its log file.

Moreover, network administrators detect unexpectedly large number of TCP socket connections in a CLOSE_WAIT state on the host server supporting the J2EE Agent which correspond to connections to processes on the host machines where ODI child Agents are running:
