JDBC Does Not Handle Meta Char ">" As Expected

When retrieving XMLType data type saved as BINARY, JDBC interprets meta char ">"  as  ">".

When using XMLType data type saved as CLOB, ">" is not interpreted.

When retreiving XMLType data type saved as CLOB, meta char ">" is not interpreted:


This behavior does not reproduce when connecting using JDBC to or databases.
