ADF Application shows javascript popup box with a WinInet status code on Internet Explorer when a network error occurs. (Doc ID 1632846.1)

When running an ADF client application with IE 8 browser on an Internet connection, one could sometimes see popup boxes with messages that said, "A connection to the server has failed", and one of the following WinInet status codes: 12019, 12031, 12152.  These popup messages were absent in other browsers like Firefox and Chrome. The application continued to function, but the popup messages gave an impression that the application was malfunctioning.
