ODSEE - How to Configure SSHA Encryption on the LDAP Client (Which Uses Directory Server 11g to Authenticate OS Users) (Doc ID 1633650.1)

Last updated on APRIL 08, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.5.1 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)

Goal

This document is for a Native LDAP client configuration which uses LDAP Server ODSEE 11.1.1.x to authenticate OS users.

An OS user account (stored in the LDAP Server) has a password policy configured which has a password storage scheme of SSHA "passwordStorageScheme: SSHA"
When the OS user account password is changed via the LDAP server, it changes successfully using SSHA encryption.
However when the password is changed on the ldapclient server side it changes it to CRYPT.
How do you configure the LDAP clients so that a password change will store the password with a SSHA password storage encryption in the LDAP Server?
