How To Determine If OPSS Is Being Used In A FMW 11g Environment (Doc ID 1636133.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Platform Security for Java - Version 11.1.1.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Pre WLS, Fusion Middleware (FMW) was based on OC4J.

Now FMW 11g is based on WLS. To support upper level stack on WLS (SOA, WC, IDM etc) their dependencies need to be made available on WLS. These dependencies are collectively called Java Required Files (JRF) and they are installed on WLS using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).

Typically, as part of the installation process of SOA, WC or IDM, JRF will get installed on WLS. However, sometimes customer does not know if their installation included JRF and thus OPSS.

A simple solution is presented in this note to determine if OPSS is in use or not.
