Problem While Performing Upgrade User Form

On : OIM 9102 BP21 to OIM 11g R2 PS2 Upgrade
As part of the post upgrade steps while Performing Upgrade User Form, it was throwing null pointer exception.
After removing the UDF entries from User.xml the User Form Upgrade was successfully performed.
What is the correct way to handle this ?
