Symptoms

Unable to view instance Flow Trace due to "Exception occured while parsing Flowtrace XML."  When clicking on the Flow Trace link, the following error occurs:

    >> Exception occured while parsing Flowtrace XML.

    <audit_trail ecid="42a9326fad3c47f9:5629455c:144f3bb0b68:-7ffd-000000000010f47e">

    >>>     at oracle.sysman.emai.model.sca.share.composite.FlowTraceModel.setFloatraceModelInfo(FlowTraceModel.java:182)
    >>>     at oracle.sysman.emai.model.sca.share.composite.FlowTraceModel.initialize(FlowTraceModel.java:76)
    >>>     at oracle.sysman.emai.model.sca.EMEntityModel._initializeEntityData(EMEntityModel.java:28)

The instances that exhibit this behavior have special XML characters in the "createdBy" field.  for example:

    createdBy="FileShare_FCWeb01_Sales-S&M-Ext-List-RepList2_Read" (Contains an ampersand in the user's name)

    createdBy="<WLS Kernel>" (User name is enclosed with a greater than and less than symbol)

In addition, errors indicating an XML entity or special character errors, similar to the following, may be logged:

 "org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The reference to entity "M-Ext-List-RepList2_Read" must end with the ';' delimiter."

or

 "org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The value of attribute "createdBy" associated with an element type "null" must not contain the '<' character."
