Error in the Execution of Sybase Stored Procedure where Empty Parameters are Passed. (Support for using Sybase Stored Procedure Default Values) (Doc ID 1644277.1)

Last updated on MARCH 30, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle SOA Suite - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On : version, Technology Adapters

The DB Adapter against Sybase does not allow you to omit a Stored Procedure parameter when invoking a Stored Procedure.

You must either pass "xsi:nil", or a value, otherwise you will encounter an error such as:

java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: [FMWGEN][Sybase JDBC Driver][Sybase]Incorrect syntax near '{'.

This becomes a problem when using stored procedures with 'Default Values', because "xsi:nil" causes a (null) value to be passed as opposed to the Default Value defined for the parameter at creation time.

When invoking the same stored procedure outside of SOA from SQL, you can omit a parameter, and the Default Value defined for the stored procedure is used.

The default value will only be used if the associated parameter is not passed when the stored procedure is invoked. The DB Adapter should be able to pass empty stored procedure parameters without any exceptions.
