Malformed URL In a Community Announcements or Custom Portlet Causes Server Error (Doc ID 1644814.1)

In the Community Announcement portlet, text can be added to be displayed in the portlet. The option exists to make this text a web address link. The format that is expected is a standard HTTP URL. In cases where the URL is in an unexpected format, WCI will throw an error when the community page loads - "The Server Has Experienced an error." One such example of a URL in an unexpected format is when 'mailto:' is inserted into the URL.
