Error ORA-01400 and handling zero length values from non Oracle databases (Doc ID 1645453.1)

Many non Oracle database allows space (empty strings) in columns defined as NOT NULL. This includes such databases as DB2, SYBASE, SQL/MX, SQL/MP, MS SQL, etc. When attempting to replicate these columns into an Oracle database, the database will convert this empty strings to NULL. If this column is defined as NOT NULL, the database will return error ORA-01400.
