Managed Attachments Checkin Errors When UseEntitySecurity is Enabled

Information in this document applies to any platform.
When using Managed Attachments with EBS or PeopleSoft, the following error page is shown when attempting to check a document into the content server.
"The content item was not successfully checked in. User operations must have at least write privilege on the entity fields on an update or check-in."
This error occurs even though the AppAdapterGrantPrivilege is set to 'W' which should give the user write access.
