Uneven Request Distribution From OHS/Apache WLS Plugin to WLS Managed Servers (Doc ID 1671015.1)

Last updated on MARCH 28, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle HTTP Server - Version 11.1.1.6.0 to 11.1.1.7.0 [Release Oracle11g]
Oracle HTTP Server - Version 12.1.2.0.0 to 12.1.2.0.0 [Release 12c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
For 11g versions fix is included in 11.1.1.9.

Symptoms

Oracle HTTP Server Plugin (mod_wl_ohs) or Apache HTTP Server (mod_wl) is configured to forward requests to multiple backend WLS servers. After restarting OHS and WLS servers web requests are forwarded to one WLS server only.  This is causing unbalanced load.

With "DebugConfigInfo ON" set in mod_wl_ohs.conf,  even though all managed servers are running WebLogicBridgeConfig page shows only one managed server is up.

This issue is intermittent and occurs around 10% of the time (eg. 1 out of 10 full restarts).  Restarting OHS will correct the issue and requests will be distributed to all WLS managed servers.
