How to use default Revision Label sequence along with specified Major Minor revision sequence (Doc ID 1683152.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 18, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 10.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Webcenter Content has a metadata field named Revision which has a default revision number sequence of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so forth. This number increments automatically for each revision of a document.
You can override the Revision default by changing the definition of the revision label. The revision label consists of two parts: a major and minor revision sequence. The Major Revision Label Sequence is the first number or letter and the Minor Revision Label Sequence follows.

To change the default revision sequence manually in the IntradocDir/config/config.cfg file, enter the following name/value pairs:

where range1,range2,range3... and range are the defined range sequence.

With the change in config.cfg it becomes effective globally and all the content check-in / revisioning will be based on the set sequence .

There is a requirement that for certain users doing check-in the revisioning should use the default sequence with the config.cfg still in place. This article describes the steps / details how to use the default sequence for revision even when the custom one is present in config.cfg.
