When adding a Storage Volume to an Exalogic Virtual vServer you receive "EMOC Target Number: 4. Target Value Exceed Maximum Of 3 For The VM Domain Type" even though a free disk slot is available (Doc ID 1903289.1)

Symptoms

You have an Exalogic system running Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software (EECS) version 2.0.4.x or later in a virtual configuration and are trying to add an additional Storage Volume to a previously created vServer when the Enterprise Manager OpsCenter Control (EMOC) job fails with the following error, even though you currently have less than 3 additional Storage Volumes attached to the vServer in question:

 

Changes

You will encounter this specific issue only if you have previously added three Storage Volumes to the vServer before deleting one of the first two Storage Volume previously added to make room for a different Storage Volume to be added.
