DSEE Crashing After Upgrading To 11.1.1.7.1 With Dmesg - Out Of Memory: Kill Process nnnn (ns-slapd) (Doc ID 1903399.1)

Symptoms

11.1.1.7.1 on Linux x64 crashing (no core file, no error log output other "detected disorderly shutdown" for crash)
Looks like crash caused by running out of memory.

From dmesg -
Out of memory: Kill process 8976 (ns-slapd) score 975 or sacrifice child
Killed process 8976, UID 1234, (ns-slapd) total-vm:18016140kB, anon-rss:15881908
kB, file-rss:2360kB

Similar process size growth is  reported from another customer on Solaris/SPARC as well.

Changes

This started to happen just after upgrading to 11.1.1.7.1 without any configuration/data change.
