Switch Profile on Add -> New Content Item Doesn't Change Metadata Values on Form (Doc ID 1903638.1)

Last updated on APRIL 10, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 11.1.1.8.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A folder is created and set to a certain profile.  You navigate into the folder and select Add -> New Content Item.  The checkin form comes up.  In the top menu bar, you select Switch Profile, and select a different profile. The value of the Profile field is changed to the new profile you selected, but none of the other fields change their values to match those in the new profile.  Any content checked in gets the metadata values from the original profile, not the new profile you switched to.

Note that this works correctly on a new check-in page, but doesn't work in a Folder checkin page.  In the browser (not in a folder), you can select New Check-In and pick a profile.  The field values are set correctly for that profile.  If you select Switch Profile on the top of this checkin form and pick a new profile, the field values are changed correctly to the new profile.
