Marshall to bytes method fails with Array Out Index Out Of Bounds

We use a generic OTD to process a HL7 message, looping through each segment, find segment not required, then using HL7_GENERIC_EVT.removeSEG( varSegmentCounter ); to remove the non-required segment.
Unfortunately the marshall to bytes method then fails with an array out of bounds.
Is there a reset to run after the remove.SEG method to reset the pointer/array?
