How Does Oracle API Gateway Analytics Communicate With the Oracle API Gateway? (Doc ID 1907077.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle API Gateway - Version 11.1.2.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The following questions arise when looking at the operation of Oracle API Gateway Analytics:

1) Is there any internal process communication between API Gateway and API Gateway Analytics?  If the plan is to install them on different hosts separated by a firewall, is it necessary to enable a firewall rule to allow these processes to work? Do these processes establish network connection or RPC communication between them?

2) Is there any impact of a failure of the database where the API Gateway is writing the analytical information to be used by the API Gateway Analytics?
In the case of a failure of the database, both "API Gateway" and "API Gateway Analytics" processes cannot write/read information to/from the database, but is the "API Gateway" process still processing requests and executing the policies deployed in it independent of the failure where it was writing statistical data?  Does this database failure have any impact on the operational behaviour of the "API Gateway" process?
