Generating XML from GoldenGate Trails (Doc ID 1910788.1)

Last updated on MAY 11, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle GoldenGate Application Adapters - Version 11.2.1.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

I have a GoldenGate architecture configured to replicate data from a source database to flat files, using the Flat Files Adapter. My configuration comprises:

Source DB: Oracle 11.2.0.3
-Capture Extract: EX1
-Data Pump Extract DP1

Target Host:
-Flat File Writer Extract: FF1

This configuration worked correctly, when trail files were rendered using their default option; i.e. DML issued on the source database had the corresponding data written to flat files, in the location, specified by the FF1 properties file.

However, I then rebuilt the environment to output trail files in XML format, i.e. the parameter file for the DP1 extract contained the keyword FORMATXML.
Although I can see the trail files on the target host being written in XML format, the FF1 extract process is not generating flat files in the required output directory.

The FF1 extract process still has a status of RUNNING and issuing VIEW REPORT ff1 shows no errors in its log file.

Please can you either explain or advise me why this is happening, i.e. why no flat files are being generated.
