The purpose of this note is to inform users, developers, consultants, support, system/database administrators, etc. about some of the commonly known issues relative to Report Server Startup Issues.

 In 11g or 12c:
 1. REP-50125 Errors 
 a.  When starting the report server in 11g, you may receive a REP-50125 accompanied by a REP-56105.
 b. Intermittent errors with: REP-50125: java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -1
 In 10gR2: 
 1.  REP-50125 Errors
 a.  The Report server shuts down immediately after starting up and errors with REP-50125:...InvocationTargetException and/or ORA-12535.
 b.  Trying to start a Reports server from UNIX shell fails with REP-50125: org.omg.CORBA.INTERNAL.
 c.  Trying to start an inprocess server errors with REP-50125: Caught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException.
 d.  The OC4J~OC4J_BI_Forms~default_island~1 displays a REP-50125: ...java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException....
 e.  When trying to start the report server via rwserver/rwserver.sh, it errors with a REP-50125.
 f.  When issuing the "opmnctl startall", it fails with REP-50125: Caught exception:Oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException.
