Symptoms
Accessing Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11g with Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) is very slow to respond to logins (around ~3-4 minutes) and then to navigate within it once logged in.
It can take several minutes to login to ODSM, then it is very slow again to access the Advanced tab, while other tabs (Data Browser, Schema, etc) are not so slow.
Or, login to ODSM fails or hangs after providing credentials.
OVD diagnostic log may show credentials failures, e.g.:
