Password Policy Validation Issue in Oracle Identity Manager - Max Password Length Of 100 Fails For Any Password Over 75 Chars (Doc ID 1933046.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 12, 2014

Applies to:

Identity Manager - Version 11.1.2.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

If you modify the password policy to have the max password length be something other than the default 128, when setting a password at the user create GUI, the error reported in the popup error message when you exceed it is the max password policy is "128" when that is not the case.

Secondly, the passwords length check seems to be that the check of the password length is against the encrypted password and not against the length of the entered plain text password.

The max password length is observed if a user resets their own password and the error message is approriate.
