Forcing Unhandled Exception(s) in APEX to Return an HTTP 404 error to the Browser (Doc ID 1933608.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Application Express (formerly HTML DB) - Version 4.2.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

It is good security policy that the application should display generic error messages or 404 Errors when handling exceptions.  For example, The database error message (ORA-01403: no data found) is returned if the following URL is entered into the browser:

https://<servername>:<port>/apex/www_flow.accept.

Is it possible to customize the above error message to return an HTTP 404 error to the browser, instead of the unhandled ORA- exception?
