Symptoms
The Internet Explorer browser will not run Java applets if 'ActiveX Fitering' is turned on.
This behavior can be seen with Internet Explorer 9 (IE) on 32-bit Windows Vista when trying to run the "Verify Java" applet from java.com.
Changes
ActiveX Filtering is turned on. This can be seen by following this chain of menu choices: Tools -> Safety -> ActiveX Filtering (checked)
