"You must specify the value" error when saving asset (Doc ID 1936335.1)

Symptoms

When trying to save an asset which contains a Required blob-type attribute using the CKEditor attribute editor, the save will always fail with the error "You must specify the value of <attribute_name>".

This issue has been observed on Chrome and Firefox.
