SSL Session Cache Cannot Cache As Many Sessions As 'max-entries' of 'ssl-session-cache' When Client Authentication is Enabled
(Doc ID 1936960.1)
Last updated on AUGUST 10, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle iPlanet Web Server - Version 7.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
When client authentication is enabled, iPlanet Web Server will cache a considerably smaller number of SSL sessions than max-entries of ssl-session-cache you set.
In the Web Server document, max-entries is described as:
"The maximum number of SSL/TLS sessions the server will cache. The value can be from 1 to 524288."
Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.9 Administrator's Configuration File Reference
However, this is not true when client authentication is enabled. iPlanet Web Server caches significantly smaller number of sessions than max-entries of ssl-session-cache that is set, when Client Authentication is enabled.
