What Permissions Child Roles Inherit from Parent Roles? (Doc ID 1942556.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2016

Applies to:

Identity Manager - Version 11.1.2.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

There is abundant use of the word "Permissions" in the OIM "Managing Roles" documentations:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40329_01/user.1112/e27151/role_mangmnt.htm

Also find the term "permissions" in the Role management screens, ex.: the Hierarchy Tab in a Role entry of the OIM Self Service interface says " Role XYZ inherits permissions from the following parent roles"

We understand OIM Admin Roles have the notion of permissions that allow access to certain OIM features, but what are permissions in the context of Enterprise Roles. More importantly, what kinds of permissions are inherited from the parent roles knowing that OIM's Access Policy Engine does not take the role hierarchy into consideration?
