OUD External Change Log (ECL) Changes Are Not Provided in Correct Chronological Order in Specific Situations (Doc ID 1942784.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 24, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Unified Directory - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

OUD has a mechanism that consolidates the chronological order of ECL changes in the topology for servers that are late.

But it can occur, in some very rare circumstances, that ECL changes are not provided in the correct chronological order.

Example - For 2 OUD instances S1 and S2 in replication

Steps         S1                       S2
1/                                          stopped
2/              cn0->v0
3/              stop-ds
4/                                         start-ds
5/                                         v1<-cn1
6/                                         SEARCH ECL from ..... returns v1/cookie1
7/              start-ds
8/                                         SEARCH ECL from cookie1 returns v0/cookie2 !

At step 8, the application is updated with v0 which is erroneous.
