Symptoms

Using a simple profile, go to Search select the profile Change the Form to Query Builder form >Metadata fields are not shown. Query is blank.

 Record management is Enabled Record Management settings enabled as follows: Records Management Install Settings --> Standalone Installation levels --> Typical
