OUD - Custom Attribute Added to Objectclass in Default/Core/Standard Schema Returns "LDAP: error code 65" When Adding Custom Attribute to Entry (Doc ID 1948411.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 07, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Unified Directory - Version 11.1.2.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

An error is returned in the logs when adding a custom attribute to an entry.   The attribute was configured as an optional attribute for an objectclass in the standard schema. i.e.;

[LDAP: error code 65 - Entry cn=cn,cn=Users,cn=OracleAccounts,dc=dev,dc=dc,dc=dc cannot not be modified because the resulting entry would have violated the server schema: Entry cn=CN,cn=Users,cn=OracleAccounts,dc=SUFFIX violates the Directory Server schema configuration because it includes attribute CUSTOM_ATTR which is not allowed by any of the objectclasses defined in that entry]
