Suddenly All Adapters in OVD 11g Are Failing. OAM Connection Test Fails with: No entries were found under the User Search Base. OVD Shows Error: com.octetstring.vde.util.DirectoryException: LDAP Error 52 : Primary adapter is inactive (Doc ID 1949873.1)

Symptoms

Suddenly, all adapters in Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11g fail.

After creating a OVD Identity Store in the Oracle Access Manager (OAM) console and testing the connection, it fails with:

Connection Status

Failed to connect to User Identity Store.
URL or Credentials specified are invalid.
No entries were found under the User Search Base : uid with attribute : ou=<USERNAME>,ou=users,ou=<OU>,dc=<COMPANY>,dc=com


OVD shows error:

at org.mortbay.util.ThreadPool$PoolThread.run(ThreadPool.java:520)
11/11/2014 7:37:54 PM com.octetstring.vde.util.VDELogger error
SEVERE: Failure in getting LDAP 1.
com.octetstring.vde.util.DirectoryException: LDAP Error 52 : Primary adapter is inactive
at com.octetstring.vde.join.JoinViewAdapter.get(JoinViewAdapter.java:854)


And from Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM), test connection is also failing for all adapters.
