OUD - How to Bypass the Password Validation Process when Userpasswords are Reset by Administrators (Doc ID 1954244.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Unified Directory - Version 11.1.2.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

To bypass the password validation process that is required for user password changes when passwords are reset by administrators.

For example -

1.  User requires/requests password reset.
2.  Administrator (user with password reset privileges) resets the password to an easy to type password, which would normally fail password validation check.
3.  User logs in with simple password and is forced to change the password to match a validation scheme.

In an attempt to skip the validation check for administrator reset passwords, the following command is issued, but does not seem to work...

dsconfig -h <HOST_NAME> -p <ADMIN_PORT> -D cn=<DS_ADMIN> --bindPasswordFile <PWD_FILE> -X -n set-password-policy-prop --policy-name "Default Password Policy" --set 'skip-validation-for-administrators: true'

What is the proper command?
