Search Server Node Lock Error "The handle is invalid" Causing Automation Job Failures (Doc ID 1954352.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 29, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Interaction - Version 10.3.0.0 and later
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) - Version: 2008 R2

Symptoms

Automation Server jobs that make calls to the search server fail. Search server nodes are having trouble getting a file handle for files in the Cluster Share Requests folder.

The following errors show up in the search server node logs at the time of the failure:

Error opening index request data file=\\<SERVERNAME>\PTSEARCHCLUSTER\requests\0_14_256\167851151.15250.15455.delta
Error FILE_OPEN_FAILED in ..\..\src\IndexRequest.cc at line 167 (system error code 6: The handle is invalid.)
IndexRequest 0_14_4846 didn't deserialize properly
Error FILE_OPEN_FAILED in ..\..\src\DeltaTask.cc at line 891 (system error code 6: The handle is invalid.)

Crawls and other jobs might fail until these errors are resolved and the Search Service is restarted.
