Java WebStart Application Fails to Start with 'CacheEntry IP mismatch' Log Messages and Error 'Cannot find cached resource for URL: <URL>' (Doc ID 1965846.1)

Last updated on MARCH 31, 2023

Applies to:

Java SE JDK and JRE - Version 7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On Java Web Start 10.65.2.19
Using JRE version 1.7.0_65-b19 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM

A Java WebStart application intermittently fails at startup. This problem only occurs for applications that download hundreds of jars at startup, where those jar files are being served from load-balanced servers, and the HTTP protocol is used.  The problem is not seen when the HTTPS protocol is used.

Logs show multiple 'CacheEntry IP mismatch' messages and then the app fails to start with error: "Cannot find cached resource for URL: <URL>".
