How to Convert OID 11g Fan Out Replication to Multi Master Replication? (Doc ID 1987264.1)

Last updated on MAY 06, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 11.1.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Converting an exisiting production Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 11g fanout replication to multimaster replication for high availability.

Found: How to Setup LDAP Replication at Command Line in OID 11g <Document 1372095.1>.

But canthe following approach work instead?

1. Stop all replication servers.
2. On the supplier, run: remtool -pcleanup -v (to remove all existing replication configuration).
3. On the supplier, run: remtool -paddnode -v for each consumer and specify option 3 (multimaster replication).
4. Start replication on all servers (withOut setting the bootstrap mode first).

In other words, is setting bootstrap mode on each replica needed before starting replication servers in Step 4, or can bootstrap be skipped because the data is already in sync?  Would like to skip bootstrap because it takes a long time; also the above method worked in a test environment.
