How to remove Support Tools when revision tracking is enabled on ElementCatalog, without untracking and losing revisions (Doc ID 1997604.1)

Goal

When trying to uninstall Support Tools, we don't have a "Support" folder under "Project" in Sites Explorer. Therefore we need to delete the Support folder from ElementCatalog. However Revision Tracking is enabled, and when we try to delete this folder we are warned that in order to do this we must first untrack ElementCatalog. This would remove all versions of elements, which we want to keep.
Is there a way to remove Support Tools from this system without untracking ElementCatalog, or without losing revisions whilst untracking so that it can be turned back on again and revisions maintained?
