Unable To Access External Applications Within WebCenter Portal : user anonymous not authorized to access external application (Doc ID 2002929.1)

Symptoms


When attempting to display an external application, the following error occurs:

user anonymous not authorized to access external application <external application name>

Steps To Reproduce:

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Created a custom portal framework application in Jdeveloper.
  2. Create an external application connection with following settings as below:

 

Application Name: otn
Application Display Name: OTN
Login URL: https://<HOST>/oam/server/sso/auth_cred_submit
User Name: <USER>
Password: <PASSWORD>
Auth Method: POST

  1. Create a JSF page and drag and drop the External Application Task Flow to the page.
  2. Deploy the application and run it.
    Result: Page loads with 'user anonymous not authorized to access external application otn' error
