Max Character Setting In Schema Syntax Not Reflected When Creating Attributes (Doc ID 2005508.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 16, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.1.7.2 [Release 11gR1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Need to limit the length of an attribute to 32 characters and have attempted to do so by configuring the attribute syntax as follows:

attributeTypes: ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.4791.5.100.91 NAME ( 'GDTest' )  SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15{32} X-ORIGIN ( 'GD defined' 'user defined' ) )

( see SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15{32} ))
                                                               ^^^
After restarting the server, its still possible to create attribute values greater than 32 characters.
